Winston County Released Inmates

Request Winston County Records

ADOC has a separate public-records process. ADOC records requests use Form 023-A and a processing fee for state correctional records. ADOC Central Records appears on the state contact page, and ADOC's regulation explains written submission, acknowledgement, invoice, and appeal steps. Do not apply ADOC's fee or resident rules to the county sheriff unless the county gives that instruction.
Alabama Release Record Law
Alabama public-records access is rooted in Ala. Code Title 36, Chapter 12, Article 3. Public access still depends on exceptions, court orders, juvenile and youthful-offender limits, sealed records, expungement, law-enforcement restrictions, and agency procedures. Winston County records may be public in part, limited in part, or unavailable online even when an office can process a request.
Expungement can change what is public. Alabama Code Title 15 Chapter 27 governs expungement, and a granted order can direct courts and agencies to expunge records in their custody, subject to exceptions. ALEA notes that a certified criminal history is needed before filing. A missing release record should not be treated as proof that no record exists. A court file can show bond, dismissal, indictment or no-bill, plea, sentence, probation order, revocation order, appeal or remand, and sentence-completion issues. It can also show that a person is out of jail while the criminal case remains active. That distinction matters. A released jail status is a custody fact. It is not the same as a final disposition.

Winston County Bond Releases
Bond-out releases in Winston County require both custody and court context. The jail can confirm that the person left custody. The Alabama Department of Corrections inmate search is useful when a Winston County felony sentence has moved into state custody. It is not the right first search for a person released from Winston County Jail before trial. ADOC's public search page states that its database contains only currently incarcerated inmates and that historical data is not available online. Winston County Supervision
The county-specific reentry record in this sweep is supervision-oriented. Winston County is served by the Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles Double Springs Field Office. That office is the local ABPP supervision point for parole and probation questions after release. It does not replace the jail for a pretrial custody question, and it does not prove the exact jail release time. VNS and Federal Releases
Alabama VNS and VINELink are useful only within their coverage. The Alabama VNS page says the state service is for people convicted in Alabama and sentenced to ADOC custody. It tells users with a case not yet tried to contact the county sheriff where the crime occurred. For ordinary Winston County Jail pretrial releases, that points back to the sheriff and court record.
Federal releases are outside the county jail and ADOC paths. The BOP inmate locator covers federal inmates from 1982 forward, and BOP explains that a past release date with no facility location means the person was released from BOP custody on that date. ICE uses a separate locator for current immigration custody, and DHS VINE is a separate immigration notification route.
